Personalization Tips

Five minutes here will save you a reprint. Everything below is drawn from the mistakes we see most often.

We proof every personalised order before it goes to print.

What can be personalised

Almost everything we make: welcome signs, seating charts, table numbers, menus, place cards, invitation suites, vow books, cake toppers, ring boxes and favours. Anything without a personalisation field on its product page is ready-to-ship as shown.

Character limits and printing area

Piece Field Guide
Welcome sign Two names + date Up to 28 characters per name
Seating chart Guest list Up to 300 names, uploaded as a list
Place cards One name each Up to 24 characters
Menu cards Courses Up to 5 courses, 60 characters each
Table numbers Number or name Up to 18 characters
Vow books Initials or names Up to 12 characters each
Cake topper Two names Up to 20 characters combined

Longer text is possible on most pieces — we will reduce the type size and send you a proof so you can see the result before we print.

Three fonts, chosen to work together

  • Serif classic — traditional, high legibility, works at every size. The safest choice for a seating chart.
  • Modern script — flowing and romantic. Beautiful for two names; avoid it for long guest lists or all-capitals.
  • Minimal — clean sans-serif for contemporary and black-tie weddings.

Pick one script for the whole wedding. Mixing scripts across signage and paper is the single most common reason a suite looks uncoordinated.

Avoid these five mistakes

  1. Typos in names. We print exactly what you type, including capitalisation. Copy names from your RSVP list rather than typing from memory.
  2. The wrong date format. US format is month · day · year. Tell us if you want day · month · year.
  3. Accents and special characters. Supported — but type them into the field rather than describing them in the order notes.
  4. Ordering before the RSVPs close. Place cards and seating charts should be ordered after your final numbers, not before.
  5. Mixing palettes. Order everything in one colour story. Pieces from two palettes will not match, however close they look on screen.

Colours on screen versus on paper

Screens light colour from behind and paper does not, so a sage that looks perfect on your phone can print a shade cooler. Every colour story we sell has been printed and checked on our stocks. If an exact match matters to you, ask for a physical proof before a full run — we post them free.

The proof, and the change window

Personalised orders are proofed by a human. You will receive a digital proof by email, usually within one business day, and nothing goes to print until you reply to approve it.

You can change or cancel a personalised order free of charge until you approve the proof. After approval the piece goes into production and can no longer be changed, because it is made only for you.

Still need us? Email hello@sagevow.com or call +1 (512) 555-0142. We answer Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm Central, and within one business day at the latest — usually much sooner if your wedding is close.
